Mary Ann and the United Nations
If you had told me a year ago that I’d be listening to a presentation, through an earpiece with a translator, at the the Human Rights Seminar, in the United Nations building in Geneva, Switzerland, well, I’d have thought you were crazy.
But to begin at the beginning…
We started our day in the classroom where […]
Blogging is hard. Let’s go to the beach.
Today was lovely and relaxing. Angie and I slept until about 8:30 and woke up feeling rested. We showered and made it to the cafeteria in time for breakfast.
I worked with some other people getting caught up on the tech classes from last week, and then went into the cafeteria to write some postcards (so […]
Happy Birthday, Annaje
My classmate, Jenny, brought her daughter to Geneva with her. Our instructor, Gary, also has his son here and has brought a nanny along for the children. Annaje had her 6th birthday here on Friday. Jenny bought her a scooter, we had scrumptious chocolate cake with lunch, and all sang Happy Birthday.
Yesterday Annaje took the […]

Ack! Mine doesn’t work.
WOOHOO! Mine is working.
Dang! It was just that I typed a hyphen instead of an underscore.
Lather, rinse, repeat.
Lunch was pretty good. They […]
Feet, a Haiku
Chubby sausage toes,
Why are you swollen and hot?
Shrink down! Shrink down now!
Wednesday, July 25th
This morning started with code, code, code. Very tricky and difficult and frustrating. But the good news is that we all eventually got caught up.
Generally, the professors go through something and then help us individually. As soon as we get something up and running, we find people who are having problems and help them out. […]

We worked hard, hard, hard this morning. For the tech part of the program we’re learning how to program with Ruby on Rails. The hard part was that we’re all working on various types of computers, some of which were troublesome. So the profs were racing around trying to help individual people and talking a […]
